Well it looks like the Sonic the Hedgehog #268 cover is online now, so I thought I’d post some some progress shots. This was a fun cover to do, and had an interesting design process.
-First, the thumbnails. you can see I didn’t really nail it in the thumbs, but the ideas are starting to form.
-As per specifications from my editor, I made the rough— you can see my original idea for a visual gag with Bean and Bark didn’t make it past the legal department!
-Sonic was too small and not gun-ho enough, so I did two alternate poses. Also I forgot about the sidebar that’s on the comics now, so I had to scoot Tails and Amy over.
Covers always go through a lot of revisions, because they’re the most visible part of the comic.

Portuguese designer Susana Soares has developed a device for detecting cancer and other serious diseases using trained bees. The bees are placed in a glass chamber into which the patient exhales; the bees fly into a smaller secondary chamber if they detect cancer.
Scientists have found that honey bees - Apis mellifera - have an extraordinary sense of smell that is more acute than that of a sniffer dog and can detect airborne molecules in the parts-per-trillion range.
Bees can be trained to detect specific chemical odours, including the biomarkers associated with diseases such as tuberculosis, lung, skin and pancreatic cancer.
